When 1st given this assignment I wasn't entirely sure on what I was going to theme my work on. One of my first ideas was to do a theme of close up's, and then using micro lenses on a few different cameras to create a series of close-up's within a book. - The more I thought about this idea the more I decided I didn't like it. This wouldn't send off a message to my reader of have a meaning to communicate, it would literally be a book of random objects that had been photographed close up.
It was when I had my second idea that I decided on what I was going to do.
I decided that I would find a piece of poetry that I liked, preferably a long poem; and that I would interpret the meaning of the poem trough my eyes in photography. With a line of the poem and a picture on each page. This would mean my book was then something to read as well as something to look at, and readers will read and see the poem trough my eyes, as well as have interpretations of their own.
To me poetry and photography have the potential to be a great pair. The addition of a poem can change the mood and the feeling of a photograph; it lets the picture speak. A poem complements a photograph as it adds another dimension to the picture with words.
